While crime in and around Toronto, Canada is fairly low, there is still a need for cameras. There have been so many people speaking out on the news saying how these cameras are an invasion of privacy.

First, you are on a public street, what privacy do you want? These cameras are only on certain parts and arent all over Toronto watching your ever move. If you feel that these are an invasion of privacy you, I’m not sure I see your point of view. Maybe I’m just being narrow minded but here is what I think.

I believe that it is a good thing. While I see their point of being afraid it will turn into London and have cameras watching every single action on every single street in public view, I think this is still a good thing. These cameras are placed for our safety. Wouldn’t you like to know that there is a camera watching for your safety if anything was to happen to you or your loved ones in these areas? I’m sure I would. I feel a lot safer when I’m down on Richmond street clubbing, knowing that there are cameras watching and keeping us safe and able to identify anyone that causes trouble.

I think, before you decide if you hate them or not, you should wait to see how effective these cameras are. Like waiting to see the stats on how many crimes the cameras solve, or how much crime has gone down in the area where the cameras are.

Even if a crime happens close by they can see a criminal running by on camera and potentially identify them on camera.

What do you think about this issue about cameras, even if you are not in the Toronto area. I would love to hear other peoples view on this to see if I’m crazy or not.
